Focus on the Positive
Some situations have occurred recently that have made me realize how much I need to focus on the positive.
I recently was reassigned to a new department at my job. Unfortunately, this new environment is rather toxic and caused me a lot of stress at first. It got to the point where I would show up to work stressed, frustrated, and angry. Thankfully, that only lasted about 3 days when it occurred to me that focusing on the positive was a necessity. My solution was to make sure that the first thing I do daily is write down at least 20 things that are blessings, refreshing, and bring joy in my life.
Just a few days ago, my daughter took my makeup bag and my sharpener ended up missing. I spent several minutes looking for it, and even had to leave my room to ask her if she had it. I think it is in her room, but it is so disorganized and messy that neither of us can find it. She is not the neatest person, so it may be in her room, but I think I may end up having to just buy another one, as usual. Anyway, it ended up taking up much more time than usual because it was not put back in its proper place. Thus, more stress.
Another situation occurred where I was so upset over a minor incident, that my husband had to help me come to my senses to realize that I had contributed to the ordeal. Thankfully, I saw that it was time to step back and regroup, then let the situation go instead of fighting that battle. It was better for me in the long run.
Throughout my life, I have realized that certain situations can be a "blessing in disguise." Good things have come out of situations that I originally thought were bad. Having my character shaped through trials daily so I become a better person is always a positive. Like the old saying goes, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger," is so true. Many times, I look back and see that good can be found in every situation, no matter how small it may be. This is a good way to help relieve stress and anxiety.
Another good way to relieve stress is to get organized. Spend a few minutes each day putting things away, even if it is in a small area. You'll be amazed how much easier life is and how little time it takes to find what you are looking for. Getting organized is always a positive, which brings me to the title of this post. Focus on the positive. Remember your goals. Find ways to relieve stress. Let us add value to your life - you deserve it.
